JOHANNESBURG: A print shop finishing menu boards on Monday and photographic enlargements on Tuesday does not always need the same machine. Laminator, a supplier of wide-format cold and hot roll laminators based in Kya Sand, Johannesburg, now breaks its work down by application, so buyers can match the machine to the jobs they actually run.
Fourteen kinds of work, one question each
The applications cover print shops, graphic designers, artists, photographers, signage production, retail displays, school printing, menu board graphics, exhibition boards, event graphics, estate agency posters, architectural presentations, window poster displays and museum displays. Each one sets out what the finish has to do, whether that is anti-glare for a lit display, scuff resistance for a menu board or a clean mount for an exhibition panel.
Bubbles are usually a setup problem
“People blame the film when they get silvering or bubbles, but it is mostly tension, temperature or speed,” said Laminator’s service technician. “Once the operator knows which of those to change for a given job, a cold laminator will run a full day of posters without a reject.”
Laminator delivers and installs nationwide and backs each machine with setup, training, servicing and repairs.
The range is at laminator.co.za. Wide-format printers and media to pair with a laminator are available through am.co.za.
