The Comsol VW Challenge returns to the Zwartkops circuit west of Pretoria for the final round of the 2014 championship on Saturday, 15 November.
While the championships have been decided there will be no shortage of on track action. Class A and overall champion James Hurley (The Starter Pack Company Polo) will almost certainly resume his season-long battle with Rory Atkinson (Comsol Polo). Class B title winner Lyle Ramsay is likely to make an appearance in a class A car and should run up with the leaders. Waldie Meintjies (Performance Masters / Marty’s Body & Spray Polo), who missed the last event, is also likely to run at the sharp end of the class A field and will be looking to improve his tenth position on the overall log.
Class B will probably go the way of Darren Nathan in the Sex Trader Polo although Andy Gossman (Chamdor Veridot & Police Clearance Golf), Brad Hall (Piazza Motorsport Polo) and Andre Needham (Polo) will certainly be doing their best to spoil his day. Nathan will be looking for a good result to hold on to his third place on the overall championship log.
Although Elke van Vledder (Golf) could equal Jacques Smith’s points tally in class C if everything went in her favour, Smith’s greater number of wins during the season has assured him of the title. Even though the class C title is his, Smith (Triplicon – ELB Construction/UTI Logistics Polo) will not be resting on his laurels as a good result on Saturday could see him move up as high as third on the overall championship log.
Others likely to be in the fight for the class C win include Henry van Vledder (Golf), Francois van Zyl (Jesus Saves Golf) and Jakes Jacobs (Nathan’s Motorsport Polo)
Qualifying will take place on Saturday morning at 08h45 with the first race of the day getting underway at 12h35. The lights should go out to signal the start of the second race at 16h25.
