55.2% of the drivers surveyed consider DiDi to be the safest application to drive and generate profits
73.8% of the drivers surveyed evaluated DiDi as “very safe” or “safe”

DiDi has now opened it’s registration for drivers in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Ekurhuleni and offers a 4 weeks 0% take rate promotion, a R250 sign up bonus and a attractive referral program

Gauteng, South Africa. August 4, 2021.- In South Africa, mobility is an integral part of our economic activity. Thanks to innovation in technology, more and more residents in the country are reaping the rewards of mobility platforms like DiDi, the world’s leading mobility platform. Following the outcome of a safety perception survey that was conducted with (531) DiDi drivers in Cape Town and Gqeberha during June 2020, specifically focused on ride-sharing apps. 55.2% of the drivers rated the DiDi app as the safest app in SA. Furthermore, 73.8% of the drivers rated DiDi “Very safe” or “Safe” during the survey. With DiDi driver registration now open in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Ekurhuleni, DiDi plans to continue to strive towards providing South Africa with a safe and affordable mobility option.

Drivers in Cape Town and Gqeberha have already taken advantage of the extra income opportunity and we would like to encourage the people of Gauteng to do the same. Drivers who are looking to be partners are encouraged to sign up and take advantage of the entrepreneurial benefits of joining DiDi’s mobility platform. This includes a 0% take rate for the first four weeks if you sign up and have all documentation approved before the launch date, plus a R250 sign-up bonus when you sign up before the launch date and complete ten trips within the first week of the launch. Other benefits include up to R15 000 for driver and rider referrals (R300 each).

  • Unmatch from riders for drivers and unmatch from drivers for riders
  • Private (hidden) numbers with communication facilitated through the app
  • Safety training for drivers
  • The expansion of DiDi in Gauteng marks another milestone for the company’s fast-growing network of markets, which now includes 15 countries.
