Union Station is a Beaux-Arts structure in Kansas City’s Crown District. It opened in 1914 and saw an annual ridership of over 650,000 people around the time of WWII. Despite being added to the National Register of Historic Places in the 1970’s, the station was closed in 1985. It was later re-purposed to hold a number of attractions including Science City and a new Amtrak service. Today, over 150,000 people utilize the Amtrak here.
