alpines, staging several traysof these plants.This firm had also a group of Japanese Maples andClematis Indivisa lobata (Large Silver Medal). Messrs. Wm Cutbush & Son, Highgate London, N.,staged a very extensive group of hardy plants. HardyOrchids were good, also Irises; I. Boissierei (beautifulrich blue), I. sofrana magnifica were noticed (Silver-gilt Medal). Quite a gorgeous display was presented in the largeconservatory by Messrs. James Cabteb & Co.s exhibitof Cinerarias and Schizanthus wisetonensis. Thegroup of Cinerarias was most extensive, and includedthe stellata type, as well as varieties of sinen-sis. The colours were very rich, form of flowersgood, and the whole pleasingly displayed (GoldMedal). Mr. Chas. Tdbneh, The Royal Nurseries, Slough,exhibited a very fine group of greenhouse Azaleas.This was a very striking and well flowered collectionthe colours being very bright and the flowers of goodsize. This firm also showed a nice batch of Auriculas(iilver-gilt Medal).

Lintott),Maiden Park, Surrey, showed a well-flowered plant ofBegonia Marie Bauchett (Certificate of Merit). Miss Adamson (gr., Mr. Keif), Soutli Villa, RegentsPark, exhibited a nice dish of fruits of Royal SovereignStrawberry (Silver Medal). ; GARDENERS DEBATINGSOCIETIES. WARE AND DISTRICT HORTICULTURAL.—Themonthly meeting was held on Tuesday, April 26th,Mr. H. Bales presiding. Mr. F. Heath, of PresdalesGardens, read a paper on The Culture of Irises. Hedealt with their introduction and the best position forgrowing each section. He gave a list of the differentspecies, aud described the best way to propagate andtreat them so as to obtain a good
