Description of work : "This 200,000 square-foot concrete and glass building spans a three-block area from Fifth Street to Eighth Street in downtown Columbus. Kevin Roche designed the structure to be compatible with its neighboring buildings. Octagonal columns of the Corporate Office Building, topped by a parapet surrounding the structure, complement the colonnades of the nearby post office. The open green space prevailing throughout much of the downtown and particularly at the adjacent Irwin Union Bank is extended to the site… The building forms a central green area on the east side, the focal point of which is the renovated Cerealine Building, one of a complex of structures which housed Cummins’ first factory and office in the 1920s." Description of view : Detail view of exterior facade showing how alternating horizontal sections of concrete and mirrored glass meet at a corner. The facade on the left alternates large horizontal windows with small strips of concrete, while the rights section alternates in a reverse pattern, small horizontal windows with large concrete sections. This pattern of glass and concrete, or light and dark, makes for an interesting view on the interior and exterior of the building.
