Upper-hill: St. Matthias Church (Hungarian: Mátyás-templom) is a Roman Catholic church located in Budapest, Hungary, in front of the Fisherman’s Bastion at the heart of Buda’s Castle District. The current building was constructed in the florid late Gothic style in the second half of the 14th century and was extensively restored in the late 19th century.
Riverbank: The Calvinist Church (the Buda Reformed Church) is located in Szilágyi Dezs? tér, a square on the banks of the Danube river on the Buda side of the city. If you head up to the Fisherman’s Bastion to enjoy the view of the city, you can’t help but notice the Calvinist Church’s beautiful roof decorated with colorful Zsolnay tiles. It’s similar to that of the Matthias Church but somewhat more discrete. The church was built between 1816 and 1859.
