Illegal occupants of Winterveldt houses must be evicted

The IFP has made urgent calls for an investigation into why illegal occupants are allowed to stay in RDP houses in Winterveldt, Tshwane.

IFP spokesperson on Human Settlements, MP Petros Sithole said “Houses in Winterveldt are vandalised and are illegally occupied. We see this is a waste of public funds and a failure by the ANC led government. Clarification is needed as to who the houses were originally intended for and what steps are currently being taken to remove the illegal occupants from these houses”

The current situation means that the actual recipients will be forced to wait even longer before they can take possession of these houses.

“As the IFP we believe that the Gauteng department of human settlements must be investigated to determine why money was spent on a project while recipients ended up with no housing. The city of Tshwane must not be excluded from this debacle as it is also to blame, as well as the ward councillor. What makes matters worse is that the MEC is aware of this crisis but has done nothing to rectify it” said Sithole.

The IFP calls on the office of the public protector, the MEC for human settlements in Gauteng, the Minister of Human Settlements and the Tshwane executive mayor to urgently resolve this matter.
