On 13 December 2014 Zwartkops Raceway will be invaded by some of the hottest racing and track machinery in South Africa. This is not for a race or for a challenge, this is to raise money for Dale’s treatment and there is a way that any member of the public can get involved. For R100, you can climb into the passenger seat of these track monsters for a thrilling ride around the international circuit. You can go as many times as you like, in as many of the different cars as you like, as long as you pay the R100 each time you can go around the track until you get sick, and then go again some more.
Off the track, you can take part in the Shavathon or have your hair sprayed in as many wild colours as you like. If you want to bring the little ones along, there will be jumping castles and gaming stations for them to stay entertained while you get your adrenaline fix on track. You are also welcome to stay for the auction where some top class motoring memorabilia and luxury items will be up for grabs at no reserve!
Organiser Michael Broom says “It’s one thing to simply ask people for donations, but I would rather give them something back for their money. It’s not every day that anyone gets a chance to jump inside a race car or super car and go for a lap around a race track at full speed. For just R100 this is an opportunity not to be missed, and with every cent going to the trust account you know you are contributing to a worthwhile cause in the process. If anyone ever thought race drivers are a selfish bunch, this should show you otherwise. Without their help this just wouldn’t be possible”.
The hot laps kick off at 08:30 AM and run until 12:00 PM in the main pit lane. Make sure you are dressed in long pants, long sleeves and closed shoes. Once you have taken care of the indemnities and payments, we give you a helmet and send you on the ride of your life! Kids over eight years old are also welcome if accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
