On 6 April 2011 one of Africa’s great infrastructure projects will take a giant leap forward. South Africa’s high speed Gautrain will rattle through to Pretoria for the first time on a test run and there are plans to extend the railway even further to ease traffic congestion. On the same day the Gautrain will set the fare for the Johannesburg- Pretoria run. ABN’s Chris Bishop went underground in Sandton near Johannesburg for the latest.

About Alan

My ethos is espoused in the words of Nelson Mandela: “I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”

You will always find me standing on the side of the underdog OR HERE.

Your obviously white or a middle class person because if you were living in
poverty in a township and you see white or middle class individuals driving
in a luxury range rovers and nice cars and you can’t afford food. You
certain would be saying society is completely divided. By the way, with the
current pathetic ANC government there is no recovery in fact inequality is
increasing (UN source)! South African society is broken and needs a strong
    government to rebuild it!

Considering currently one in twenty black students goes to university
(these are SA Government figures) I think it will take 40 years before we
see any significant difference in the racial divide, in terms of the
elimination townships and significantly reduced levels of poverty and
unemployment and this will only happen if education reform is passed
through parliament right now and the economy is growing at 5% at least!
With the current government and growth it will take 60 years or more!
