DURBAN: A logo that looks sharp on a screen can turn into a blur of thread on a cap peak, and a fine-line crest can lose its detail on a fleece. EMB Designs, a branded clothing and promotional items supplier in Durban North, has set out its embroidery and print services so buyers know what happens to their artwork before production starts.
Digitising, checks and a trial piece
Each order starts with in-house logo digitising for embroidery and an artwork check for size and colour. Sample runs give the client trial pieces to approve before a bulk order is stitched or printed. From there the team handles embroidery on shirts, caps, jackets and towels, screen printing for T-shirts and event wear, heat press printing for short-run names and numbers, and cap branding on the front, sides and back.
The right method for the garment
“A softshell jacket and a cotton T-shirt need different treatment, even with the same logo,” said EMB Designs’ production supervisor. “Stitching suits a jacket that gets worn for years. A run of 300 fun-run shirts is usually better printed. We tell the client which one fits before they pay for the wrong one.”
Uniform packs can be sorted by person, department, branch or team, and rush orders are available on selected 24-hour jobs. EMB Designs supplies businesses, schools, clubs, construction crews, security teams and hospitality staff across Durban North and eThekwini.
The full range is at embdesigns.co.za. Embroidery machines and heat presses for in-house branding are available through am.co.za.
