South African Companies Turn to AI Training to Boost Workplace Productivity

29 November 2025 9:54 am

Johannesburg, South Africa, November 2025: New data shows a surge in demand for AI, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot skills across HR, finance and operations teams.

South African organisations are rapidly shifting toward AI-driven productivity, prompting HR and leadership teams to prioritise staff training in tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and other AI workplace solutions.

College Africa Group (CAG) reports strong growth in corporate demand for AI skills training, with companies focusing on practical, safe and compliant use of AI across everyday tasks such as email, Excel, reporting, presentations, customer queries and project delivery.

“Teams already have access to AI tools — but the skills gap is the barrier,” says CAG lead trainer, Arnold Muscat. “Companies are now realising that productivity gains come from training staff, not just buying the technology.”

CAG delivers AI in the Workplace, ChatGPT for Business, Copilot for Microsoft 365, and AI Essentials for HR workshops throughout South Africa. These sessions focus on real workplace scenarios, POPIA-safe prompting, productivity shortcuts and integrating AI into Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams and project workflows.

Businesses that upskill staff in AI tools are already reporting:

  • Faster document creation

  • Improved email and report quality

  • Enhanced decision-making speed

  • Better customer response times

  • Significant time-savings across admin and HR tasks

With AI adoption accelerating across African markets, structured training is becoming a core requirement for organisations looking to gain competitive efficiency.
