The Roodeplaat Water Treatment Plant has been without electricity since the outage affecting the Rooiwal–Pyramid network two days ago. Although power has been restored to most areas, the plant remains without supply and cannot produce water. City and Rand Water electricians are on site, working to identify the fault on the electricity line supplying the plant so that repairs can be carried out.
The interruption affects supply to Montana Reservoir. Customers in Montana Park, Magalieskruin, Sinoville, Annlin, Wonderboom, Doornpoort and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure or water shortages. Areas supplied by Magalies Water may also be affected, as the plant supplements its supply when required. Water production will resume once electricity is restored.
Supply will recover gradually as reservoirs refill and the network stabilises. Customers are urged to use water for essential needs only and avoid watering gardens, washing vehicles or filling swimming pools. The city apologises for the inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation. A further update will be provided during the day
