Scottburgh – due to unprecedented interest, the Rip Curl GromSearch Scottburgh presented by The Blue Marlin Hotel has been extended to three days of competition.
The tournament will begin on Friday, 31 March, and finish on Sunday, 2 April, with a prizegiving at the contest site. Entries are open here – Rip Curl GromSearch Scottburgh and are nearly full.
The contest, the 3rd in a five-part series, caters to surfers from U12, U14, U16 and U18 Boys and Girls. The first competition happened at Long Beach in Cape Town, the second at Victoria Bay in George, and the Scottburgh contest will be the third competition. Series ratings will be decided on the top 4 out of five events.
The Rip Curl GromSearch has always been a platform for young surfers to showcase their skills and compete against their peers. The event offers a unique opportunity for young surfers to gain experience and exposure to the professional surfing world. The event is not just about winning but also about developing camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a passion for the sport.

The Rip Curl GromSearch contests are all Premier SAST events, with 1,000 points going to the winners and prizemoney per all Premier events.

The Blue Marlin Hotel is happy to offer a discounted accommodation rate of R1500.00 per night, accommodation only, a maximum of 2 persons sharing. Children aged 3 to 11 years will be charged a percentage of the rate. To qualify for the discounted rate of R1500.00 per night, accommodation only, participants must call/email our reservations office and quote “Rip Curl Gromsearch”. This rate will only be valid for 30 March 2023 to 2 April 2023.
