The Eastern Cape is a real dichotomy – many internationally known business and sportspersons hail from Nelson Mandela Bay and the Eastern Cape, many businesses are lauded for their innovational ways of conducting business and then… most of those people, schooled and hardened in the deep, hot trenches are then snapped up to work in other cities and countries.
The Eastern Cape just does not seem capable of retaining home grown talent.

This drain of resources has, over the past decades, resulted in low employment rates, extreme poverty and a defeatist attitude.
We witness media (social and traditional) in other provinces and countries supporting their businesses and sports making the rest of the country wanting to move there and share in the great fortune whilst us here in the Eastern Cape will rather bash and pull down anyone who excels.
A lot of it is due to the stranglehold that traditional media have on the Eastern Cape and the high cost of getting any message out.
