Overnight Restrictions On High-Consuming Reservoirs Continue

29 October 2026 4:28 pm

Tshwane’s overall system is showing signs of improvement following the overnight water supply restrictions.

This intervention was implemented to help stabilise upstream systems, which were under severe pressure due to high water consumption.

Previous pressure points are currently showing signs of improvement although still largely strained. Some reservoirs, particularly Ga-Rankuwa West, Mabopane Main, Soshanguve L, Iscor and Parkmore LL, are still low. The City also notes the strain on Brakfontein Reservoir.

The latest status is as follows:

Reservoir/System Current status
Akasia Satisfactory
Bakenkop Satisfactory
Erasmusrand Moderate
Ga-Rankuwa Industrial Low
Lynnwood Moderate
Meintjieskop Moderate
Murrayfield Moderate
Rooihuiskraal Low
The Reeds Moderate
Ga-Rankuwa West Low
Iscor Critically low
Parkmore LL Moderate
