A Breakthrough Respiratory Device Launches in South Africa, Empowering More People to Access Vital Care.

23 April 2026 11:38 am

Johannesburg, South Africa – A new Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) therapy device, RespiPEP, has officially launched in South Africa, expanding access to supportive respiratory care for individuals living with certain chronic and acute respiratory conditions.

Respiratory conditions can make breathing difficult and impact quality of life. RespiPEP is designed to support breathing as part of a broader care plan.

Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) therapy is a proven airway clearance technique. Patients exhale through a device that provides gentle resistance, generating positive pressure to help keep airways open and support airflow.

The resistance and resulting oscillations help loosen mucus from airway walls, making it easier to clear. PEP therapy has been shown to support mucus clearance and improve lung capacity.

Expanding access to affordable respiratory support

Access to effective respiratory support remains a challenge for many patients. RespiPEP offers a practical, easy-to-use solution, suitable for both clinical and home environments, with affordability and portability to support broader accessibility to PEP therapy.

“Alora Medical is committed to advancing lives through accessible, patient-focused innovation,” said Daminda Senekl-Griessel, MD of Alora Medical. “The introduction of RespiPEP reflects our focus on developing solutions that support everyday respiratory care.”

Availability

RespiPEP is now available in South Africa through:

  • Selected healthcare providers and physiotherapy practices
  • Pharmacies and wellness retailers
  • Online direct-to-consumer platforms

RespiPEP is a medical device intended to support respiratory care. Use only as directed and under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. This device does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Individual results may vary.
